Holidays & Closures

The Theodorou Academy is closed in honor of the holidays listed below. In addition, classes may be closed on Sunday if the holiday falls near the weekend. Our monthly schedule is maintained on the website (see Class Section). During inclement weather, the Theodorou Academy will close when the town of Watertown declares a snow emergency. Please check the Theodorou Academy website for announcements. Tuition is not subject to adjustment for closures.

January: New Year's Day

April: Easter Sunday

May: Memorial Day

July: Independence Day

September: Labor Day

November: Thanksgiving

December: Limited schedule between Christmas and New Year’s
 

Uniforms & Other Gear

Students need to purchase a lightweight uniform and 14 oz. boxing gloves upon full-time enrollment. Equipment from other prior schools can be used as long as they are deemed to be in good condition and without labeling from the prior school.


Tuition & Renewal Policies

Please refer to your signed copy of the Contractual Agreement provided at enrollment for your specific program term, tuition rate, renewal date, and method of payment. The following are general policies:

Tuition Policy:

  • Standard no refund policy
  • There are no pro-rations of tuition for missed classes
  • Payment is due for your program term regardless of attendance (refer to Freeze Policy for missed classes)
     

Freezing Your Membership:

For month to month memberships:

You must notify the Theodorou Academy of Jiu Jitsu, Inc. by submitting a "Freeze Notice" (email or in writing) ten (10) days in advance of the month you are to be away. Your billing and membership will remain frozen until you reactivate your membership in writing.

For One Year memberships:

If your schedule requires that you take time off from your Jiu Jitsu class before the completion of your 12 month program, you must notify the Theodorou Academy of Jiu Jitsu, Inc. by submitting a "Freeze Notice" (email or in writing) ten (10) days in advance of the month you are to be away. Your membership will be temporarily frozen and extended by the amount of time you have requested to have your membership paused, up to a maximum of 2 months (see below).


Terms & Conditions to Freeze:

  • A full calendar month is required to freeze (no partial months) - 1st to the 30th.
  • A maximum of 2 months may be frozen under the One Year membership.
  • There is no maximum freeze period for our month to month program.
  • Students that take time off beyond 2 months (12 month program) will not receive credit for missed time.
  • Credit will only be applied if the Freeze Notice form is provided before the freeze month.

 

Belt Promotions and Fees:

The journey to Black Belt is broken down to a series of Belt Promotions where students get to demonstrate their techniques in front of the class and advance toward their Black Belt. Belt promotions occur on the last Thursday of every month at 9pm. This is a very exciting time for students who have worked to gain proficiency in their skills. Our testing fees are among the lowest in the country. The testing fees for all belt colors white to brown is $35 which includes a new belt.
